A Step-by-Step Guide Cord Cutting Ritual

Have you ever felt as though a piece of your vital energy is still bound to a story, a person, or a timeline you have long outgrown? In the ancient priestess traditions, it is understood that energy is continuous; it does not simply vanish because a connection has run its course in the physical world. It stays bound through invisible ties across our energetic field and womb space until we consciously choose to release it.

A cord cutting ritual is not an act of malice or anger, it is a sacred act of devotion to your own wholeness. As you enter this space, remember that true spiritual boundaries are not built from fear, defense, or resentment. I believe working with rituals from a place of love can be the most potent form of magick. When you anchor your boundary in reverence, for both your journey and theirs, you dissolve the energetic hooks that anger often leaves behind.

The Sacred Cord Cutting Ceremony

Prepare your altar space in a fire-safe environment. Clear the air with dried herbs or resins, drop into your heart space, and ground your root into the earth.

• 1 Small White Candle: Represents you and your sovereignty.
• 1 Small Black Candle: Represents the person, past relationship, or dynamic you are releasing.
• Natural Fiber String: The physical representation of the energetic tie between you.

‍Step 1: Binding & Intention

Set the two candles side by side on a heat-proof plate or tray. Securely tie a piece of string around the white candle, and stretch the other end to tie around the black candle, establishing the visible bond between the two energies.

Step 2: Spoken Transmission

Place your hands over your heart or womb center. Speak these words aloud with steady, unwavering authority:

‍I now remove and release any ties that connect me to _______. I release _________ and I call back my energy. (Repeat 3 times)

And so it is. (Repeat 3 times)

Step 3: The  Release

Light the white candle first to ignite your own sacred flame, followed by the black candle. Sit in stillness as the flames melts down toward the string.

Step 4: Reading the Alchemical Signs

As the fire catches the cord and the candles burn down completely, observe the unfolding ceremony:

• The Break: Notice how the string burns. Does it sever swiftly and cleanly, or does it struggle to catch? A quick severing indicates a spirit that is fully ready to detach; a slow burn points to subtle resistance or lingering attachment.
• The Wax Patterns: Examine the melted wax left behind. Smooth pools reveal harmony and successful release, while aggressive drips, dark soot, or overlapping wax pools signal unexpressed emotions or dynamic friction that required extra fire to clear.

As the ritual comes to completion, you step back from this sacred release renewed, rooted in deep reverence, and completely sovereign in your own field.
