On October 28th, 2023 we bear witness to the final eclipse of the year, a Taurus Full Moon Partial Lunar Eclipse. This celestial event marks the culmination of a year-and-a-half journey through eclipses in Taurus and Scorpio, signifying the end of an evolutionary process that commenced back in January 2022.
A Full Moon’s potency is even more pronounced during an eclipse, signifying moments of closure, fulfillment, and release. They symbolize the conclusion of a chapter in our lives and beckon us to bid farewell, leaving the past behind. During these times, we're encouraged to release our attachments to old identities and ways of being, allowing the old to gracefully fade away, making space for a more prosperous, fulfilling, and abundant future.
Full Moons inherently activate two opposing yet complementary signs. This month, the Moon in Taurus stands in opposition to the Sun in Scorpio. This Eclipse activates the axis of finances and resources, sensuality and sexuality, drawing our attention to our relationship with holding onto and letting go, building foundations, and deconstructing that which is outdated.
Lunar eclipses are known to be energetically intense; however, there is a different intensity when it comes to a lunar eclipse in Taurus.
Taurus embodies a spirit of grounded stillness. It serves as a gentle reminder for us to ground ourselves in the Earth and encourages us to tap into our inner strength when faced with life's unexpected challenges. Think of this zodiac sign as a soothing balm for our inner peace, especially when the world seems to be hurling curveballs our way.
Additionally, the energy of Taurus helps us reconnect with the subtle, healing properties of nature, all of which help us find our center. It provides a quiet sanctuary, a place of solace in the midst of life's rush.
This Eclipse unfolds in the early degrees of Taurus, intimately linked with the North Node positioned in the later degrees of Aries. The North Node, a significant point in the Moon's orbit, holds the key to our evolutionary path. The sign it transits reveals the energy we should embrace and embody.
With the North Node journeying through Aries, the emphasis is on rekindling our connection with our instincts and fostering trust in our primal nature. This transit, initiated back in July, has urged us to acknowledge our desires, assert ourselves in a healthy manner, and heed our inner wisdom when making decisions, rather than constantly seeking external guidance or validation.
The Aries North Node encourages us to have faith in our inner strength and to courageously bring forth something entirely new into the world. It reminds us that aligning with our soul's purpose benefits not just us but the collective as a whole.
Additionally, when Eclipses occur in proximity to the North Node, they serve as cosmic guides, redirecting and reorienting us toward alignment with our true path. This Lunar Eclipse in Taurus extends an invitation to rediscover self-trust, rebuild our sense of self-worth and confidence, and move forward with a profound awareness of our values, resources, and abilities.
Eclipses act as powerful catalysts in our lives, stirring up emotions and bringing hidden truths to the surface. They mark the beginnings and the endings of significant cycles in our personal development.
During these times, old energies may resurface in our conscious awareness, seeking understanding and closure. Even if you believe you have already let go of these energies, they may return for more encounters as they exit your consciousness.
On a lunar eclipse, there is no turning back or resisting the knowledge that emerges. Instead, the path forward lies in embracing this newfound awareness and considering how it can be harnessed for your growth. If you hold onto energies that no longer serve your evolution, you may encounter frustration and a sense of misalignment.
The lunar eclipse and the subsequent month following, offer an opportunity to detach from energies, emotions, and even people that no longer align with your life’s path. Look at it as your chance to shatter the barriers that hinder your potential.
Recognizing that a lunar eclipse is a cosmic push to break free from stagnant energies and old patterns can feel both frightening and exciting.
During this time, grant yourself the space to digest the revelations unveiled and avoid hastily rushing into decisions. Allow the energies to settle, and then make the necessary moves to advance. Below, are some simple ritual suggestions you could follow during this partial lunar eclipse:
1. Practice Stillness
Set aside additional moments for a deep connection with your body and mind during this phase. Observe the thoughts and emotions that surface and allow them to simply exist. Embrace the power of acceptance as a guiding force to rediscover your inner balance.
2. Include Grounding Asanas in Your Yoga Practice
For those on a yogic journey, this one's for you. Asanas that engage with the Root Chakra offer profound grounding and a chance to rekindle our connection with our energetic roots. Here are some postures to ignite your practice: Tree Pose (Vriksasana), Garland Pose (Malasana), Warrior Poses I, II, Mountain Pose, Child's Pose, and Splits.
3. Spend time in Nature
As the splendid autumn hues reach their peak, consider a leisurely stroll outdoors – a delightful escape from your everyday tasks. Engage in a walking meditation, where you simply bask in the splendor of nature. Don't hesitate to serenade the trees, make offerings to the elementals and spirits, and forge a deep connection with the enchanting season of Samhain.
Enjoy this moment of pause and admire the eclipse's beauty. In doing so, you'll not only appreciate the lunar spectacle but also acknowledge your own inner beauty.
